One of the highlights at Borneo Rainforest Lodge is the Canopy Walk. The trailhead is about 1/2 mile up the road from the lodge at the top of a hill from which you climb up several stairs to a suspended walkway.

The Canopy Walk used to be longer than it is now, linking five trees to the trailhead, but lightning hit the 4th tree a couple years ago, so the suspended walkways and platforms beyond the 3rd tree are now being rerouted and rebuilt.
This is the platform at the 2nd tree:

We stopped for a portrait with the morning sun streaking through the trees behind us.

From here we continued to tree number 3. It was eerily quiet this morning and there was no wildlife to be seen.

This one is from the 3rd tree looking back at tree number 2:

The entire scaffolding of the platforms and suspended walkways was built by hand with no boring into the trees. All these cables had to be hauled up by climbers and secured to the trees by pressure. Amazing.

We lingered on the 3rd platform awhile. It was beautiful.

On the way back, we finally found a wild critter.

We arrived back at the lodge in time for breakfast. This is the view from the dining area at the lodge. There were days when I wondered why I should leave the table to go hike.

A dip in our pool to cool off after breakfast. It’s been in the high 80°s F with what must be nearly 100% humidity.

We had a private breakfast down by the river on our last day. The mist rolled in as we headed off.

We’re now on our way out of the rainforest to go diving off Semporna. We’ll swap out of the Landcruiser to a van again at Lahad Datu.
Here’s our route through Sabah:
