Ferries

Yesterday was another windy and rainy day, but we eventually ventured out and took the ferry to the old city. Here’s the view from the ferry back toward the terminal. The restaurant we went to is just off to the left, out of the picture.

And off we go!

Here’s the old city in the daylight; it’s pretty much the same picture I took the other night in the dark.

The St. Lawrence River is about 200 feet deep here, so even though we’re several hundred miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean, they still get over 7,000 ocean-going ships through here each year heading to or from the Great Lakes, including huge cruise ships like the one above and tankers like this one.

We’ve arrived at Old Quèbec!
