On the Road Again

By the end of the day Tuesday, the RV had been repaired with a new alternator and new chassis batteries and we were on our way to Buffalo, stopping at Lyons, New York, to visit Von Gern’s mother, Betty. We had seen Betty in Madison back in July at Jim and Von’s son’s wedding where she was dancing up a storm.

We had a home-cooked chicken lunch at Betty’s on Wednesday, which was greatly appreciated since we had been out of the RV for a couple days and were getting tired of dining out every meal. After our visit, I made Betty and Dale pose for the obligatory photo:

Then, off we went across New York State on the backroads to Buffalo, driving along Lake Ontario as much as we could:

We stopped at Fort Niagara, but it was too chilly to explore and we wanted to get to a campground on Grand Isle before dark.

Grand Isle sits in the Niagara River, separating the U.S.A. from Canada, but it’s on the outskirts of Buffalo and about a 20-minute drive from where Trevor lives. Trevor had to work on Thursday, but he got the day off Friday and came out to the campground to visit.

It was really great to see him again!
